Peroleh Beasiswa ke Korea, Geffelyn Veeda Augustine Tak Ingin Membebani Orang Tua

POS.SCH.ID – MEDAN Many alumni of the Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama (SPK) school or the PrimeOne  School Medan international school have received scholarships to continue their education abroad. One of them is Geffelyn Veeda Augustine who was accepted at Seoul National University in the Biological Sciences, Bachelors study program.

The daughter of Pele and Rika Sandra has a series of achievements, including Top 10 essay in National English Competition X (2022), Vice Class President SH2, Mini Research Leader SH2, STEAM Leader SH3 and other achievements outside of school.

Thanks to hard work and seriousness in studying, the first child of 2 siblings received a Global Korea Scholarship Embassy Track scholarship (for quota: 2 people throughout Indonesia) to be accepted at Seoul National University (SNU-biological sciences), Yonsei University (Yonsei-systems biology) and Pusan National University (PNU-biological sciences).

Geffelyn Veeda Augustine obtained information about scholarships to study in Korea based on her own research and seeing it directly at the South Korean Embassy.

“The scholarship registration and selection process was carried out on October 10, 2023 and passed the document screening, then on October 12, they were directly interviewed, then on October 19, they were declared to have passed the interview,” he explained.

Then, continued Geffelyn Veeda Augustine, the second stage of selection was continued and on November 22, 2023, it was declared that he had passed the second stage, on December 12, it was declared that he had passed at Yonsei, and on December 15, it was declared that he had passed at SNU and PNU.

The amount of the scholarship received is for a 5-year program, where one year is for language education and 4 years of education at a Korean university with daily living costs for one month of around IDR 12.5 million.

When asked about the preparations she made to get the scholarship, Geffelyn said that she took the IELTS test, wrote a personal profile, made a study plan, and prepared herself for the interview.

“My ambition in getting this scholarship is to improve health services in Indonesia by applying what I learned from Korea,” he said.

Geffelyn further said that the most memorable experience as a scholarship recipient to Korea was being selected from more than 500 applicants from all over Indonesia and recently Geffelyn has often been invited to be a webinar speaker.

The most impressive thing about taking the test to get a scholarship to study in Korea is the time to write the essay within 5 days.

“So, I sat and studied for hours until my back hurt, didn’t have time to study for the interview because I was late checking my email for the announcement and the interview schedule with 2 people from Korea and 1 person from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology,” he said.

At the end of the conversation with Geffelyn, this POS Medan graduate shared some tips for the younger generation. Try to keep your average grades each semester and not let them ‘drop’.

“My vision for the future is that I don’t want to burden my parents, especially in continuing my education to college level,” he said.
