Deepavali dazzles with the most intense of colours, rich saffron and turmeric, illuminated by the light of a thousand oil lamps. Celebrated by Hindus across the world to mark the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness, the symbolism of Deepavali is aptly summed up in the simple act of lighting an oil lamp.
On Tuesday, Nov 8th, 2016, Elementary 5 and 6 students were gathering in the Multi Purpose Hall of PrimeOne School. They were so excited to know about the Deepavali Celebration. Some Hindu students from Elementary 5 and 6 presented the India dances and sang the India songs.
Tasvir (The student from E6 Nebula) presented the history of Deepavali to her friends. She mentioned that houses are cleaned and decorated with Rangoli patterns. The patterns are placed on door steps to welcome the Goddess Lakshmi. She added that small lamps are also lit all around the house called diyas. This is to make sure that Lakshmi can see the houses and visit them to bring good fortune to the family.
From this programme, we hope to build tolerance among students as it is written in our 10 commitments of PrimeOne School students.
Happy Deepavali!

Selamat merayakan hari Diwali!
